St Andrews & Guard Bridge (N, East Neuk MRC) arrives at Cupar Model Rail 2026! Recreating the final decade of rail services to the historic university town, this beautifully detailed layout captures the branch line through Guard Bridge in the years before closure. Expect a varied mix of everyday passenger services, summer tourist specials and rail tours, with meticulously scratch-built buildings bringing this lost corner of Fife back to life. 18–19 July, Corn Exchange, Cupar, 10am. Set in 1970s Glasgow, Balornock Goods is a compact HO‑gauge shunting puzzle created by Ian Rankin. The layout represents a busy urban goods yard serving a coal merchant, a warehouse, and a third road for general traffic — all packed into a neat, operationally satisfying footprint.

Built in 1/87 scale, it stands out from the usual British 1/76, with locos and rolling stock mostly modified Lima items from the period. If you’re curious about the operation, the stock, or the modelling choices, the operators are always happy to chat.

Well that’s our weekend at the “Lothians Model Railway Exhibition” 2026. We have had a great weekend with Smallburn proving really popular with visitors (came second in the public vote).
