Craiglang - O Gauge

Craiglang: O - British

Is a 1950-1960’s fictitious 0 Gauge Scottish terminus created and evolved to operate and accommodate my many passenger coaches and NPCS. Emphasis is on fun rather than prototypical operation so no timetables.

In my imagination, Craiglang was a through station until the tunnel collapse closed the line to the north of Craiglang just south of Burnieboozie. It was originally designed to be expandable beyond the station. So during the 2020 lockdown the 8’4” expansion duly appeared and this features a goods yard and a lengthy street scene with the distillery now expanded over what was the line to Burnieboozie.  All buildings on this extension were created during the lockdown.

The layout can be operated with or without the extension. As much infrastructure as possible is accommodated in the limited space. As a fictitious layout, it can be wherever you want it to be. But look out for Jack, Victor, Tam and Winston outside Bobby’s Bar in Craiglang old town. There you will also find Naveed receiving a telling off from “nebby” Isa outside the shop next door.

Much of the rolling stock is scratch-built, some from kits and also some ready-to-run. Some point-work is scratchbuilt and the remainder uses Peco points and track. All of the buildings are scratch-built from drawings, photographs, or my limited imagination and as with so many layouts, it’s never finished.
The layout has recently been converted to DCC (sound).
