History of Cupar Model Rail

In 1992, we took the decision to hold our own Model Railway Exhibition using the hall in the old theatre block and our own club rooms above in the former Castlehill Primary School. We never thought 30 years later, that we would grow the exhibition and use both halls of the Corn Exchange.

We have over these years tried to include as many scales in railway modelling, along with many other aspects of the modelling hobby, including model boats, aircraft, and even die-cast models. One thing that most people remember was the fine display of Railway Posters that were on display around the venue.

We would like to thank all the Clubs & Exhibitors, Traders and Associations past and present, that have attended our shows over the years, without them the show would not be possible.

At Cupar Model Rail, we award 2 trophies in memory of members of the club who have sadly passed away. "The Bill Scobie Memorial Trophy" which is decided by members of the club, and from 2018 "The Williamson Wherrett Shield" named after Gregor Williamson and Frank Wherrett who were both long term members of the club, The latter trophy is decided by a public vote.

In 2019 we held a one day mini show/open day on December 7th to showcase club layouts in the Castlehill Community Centre. In 2021 we moved the show to the First floor of the Corn Exchange, this proved very popular with a very busy show.
